UPDATE DECEMBER 2014: Some highlights from the World Cup:
Here’s the quick bullet points recap of how things went:
• It was the best man made scaffolding jump I’ve ever hit
• I landed the best trick I’ve ever done on that type of jump
• I ended up in a personal best placement of 22nd at a World Cup
• I fit in a 2 hour tourist blitz of the amazing city of Istanbul
• Overall it was a great experience and a good way to kick off the competition season!
UPDATE: Andrew, and his amazing team, have put together an online fundraising campaign. The campaign is specifically to help him achieve his goals of qualifying for the US and European Open events this season.
The campaign is live at http://www.makeachamp.com/andrew complete with a video that I produced, background information and givebacks! If you have a minute please check it out and feel free to share it 🙂
UPDATE: In December 2014 Andrew will be competing at the World Cup in Turkey! The competition is a big air, scaffolding jump (insane!) the 4th World Cup he’s been to. Good luck Andrew!
Andrew Matthews hails from Yellowknife, of all places! He fell in love with snowboarding on a family trip to Quebec and has not let the pancake-flat terrain of his home province stand in the way of his dream to represent Canada at the 2014 Olympic Games in Sochi!
Andrew loves Peak Performance Physiotherapy and Massage Therapy and had these great words to say about the clinic.
“Peak Performance is a great place to go when you get banged up! The staff are so knowledgeable; they make sure you understand why something is hurting so that you know how to make it better. They have so many tools to help you recover faster and become stronger than when you came in. They’ve helped me overcome several injuries and allowed me to get back out doing what I love!”
